United States or Los Estados Unidos

Quote: I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English.  President George W. Bush

Here we are on the eve of May 1st waiting to see what will happen when the Latinos take to the streets tomorrow to demand amnesty for illegal immigrants.

I ask why should you care??  If you are reading this and were born in the U.S. or you have immigrated here through the proper procedures to do so then you should.  If you are reading this and are from another country ask yourself if this sort of demonstration and behavior would be tolerated in your country.

To date the Latinos or Hispanics have decided to make over our National Anthem, singing it in Spanish and changing some of the lyrics.  This of course was helped along by a former citizen of the United Kingdom, who has been a U.S. resident for 16yrs.  The lyrics in most places aren’t even close to the original song. US National Anthem The Latino/Hispanic version Spanish Version puts new ideas out that were not included in the original National Anthem; some sound more like protests that should be voiced.

They also are pushing to be made legal citizens of the U.S. without going the route that so many other immigrants have done to be legal citizens of the U.S.; my grandparents included.

Mexicans seem to think that they have the inalienable right to travel north to the U.S., get a job and send money home.  They are considered heroes and their own government does nothing to stop the migration. Yahoo News

Perhaps it is time that those of us who are in this country legally stand up and say Stop the nonsense.  If you don’t want to learn English, if you don’t want to become a citizen, if you think that you can come here and start dictating what this country should do to accommodate you then I suggest that you turn yourself around and start walking back to Mexico, back to South America or wherever it is that you have come from.

This country is full of people from other lands whose first language was not English, who came here through correct paths, who wanted a better life and wanted to assimilate to our culture.

America is known as a melting pot.  So basically if you want to come here and not melt into the rest of our society get the hell out of our country.

This is not to say that one should give up the customs of their culture or forget where they have come from; it is to say remember where you are, remember that this is your new country and learn to live as a citizen of this country.  And whatever you do remember that the American flag is on the top of the flag pole not below the flag of whatever country it is that you have left.
