A little update

Just a quick update on what is going on around here.

Wash is almost done!!

Sweet hubby gets his second cataract removed today at 10:30am.

The city my sister lives in, in Virginia got hit by a tornado yesterday; so will try to get in touch with her.

I have been awake since 7:30 this morning and now it is time to get some breakfast.

Three More To GO!!

Yup, that’s right - only three more people have to hit this blog and it will officially have had 2500 visits.

Not bad for someone who started writing, stopped writing, wrote sporadically and now tries to write at least once every other day or so.  Go Me!!

So, let’s see who will be visitor number 2500!!

Is it you??  If it is, leave your name.

Been a Busy Week So Far

Here we are heading into Thursday and I feel like most of this week has been a blur.

Tuesday sweet hubby had his one cataract removed and a new lens put in.  Spent most of his day in bed because he was wore out from the procedure, and I had to be near-by “in case” so getting much done was not a happening thing.

The whole pre-surgery thing was a bit of a nightmare.  We were given a prescription for drops for his eye and of course it was in a drug group that he is allergic to - someone didn’t check that at the office.  The pharmacist spent most of the day on Friday looking for a pharmacy that carried the one that he isn’t allergic to and couldn’t find one so the pharmacist called the doctor’s office and they said to come on over that they had a sample.  Got up on Saturday to begin the drops and found out that 1) the brand new bottle was empty 2) it was expired!!  Called back to our pharmacy (doctor was closed on Saturday) and once again they called around to see if they could find the correct one.  Eureka!! Walgreen’s had just happened to get a shipment in and had it.  Off we hurried to pick it up.  Then found out that it should be refrigerated - the sample we had received had NOT been refrigerated.

After the surgery sweet hubby was given 2 pills to take - one at night time and one this morning.  I took the pills out to give him the night one only to find that there were 2 different pills in the bottle.  I couldn’t call the doctor’s office because they were closed, so I called the hospital number that they gave me.
They didn’t have a pharmacist there that late so instructed me to call Walgreen’s to have it checked by their pharmacist.  So here it is midnight and I am driving across town - alone - to go to Walgreen’s to have the pills checked.  The pharmacist checked them out using his computer and found that they were both generics of the same medicine from 2 different companies. Whew!!  But better to be safe than sorry - I always say!!

Today was a recheck on the eye surgery to see if it was healing properly and also booking the next one.  Next Tuesday will see us heading to the surgery center to get that taken care of.

Took the youngest one to the chiropractor as we both had appointments.  Also trying to find a weird size envelope so that I can finish her sister’s graduation announcements and get them sent out.  I sort of screwed up addressing the inside one so was looking for some replacements.

Canceled the last doctor appointment for today as I just didn’t want to go there and since it was for sweet hubby and he didn’t want to go - why bother?
Tomorrow is spending most of the day with my father as he has a doctor appointment in the afternoon and we will have errands to do in the morning with him.I have 8 more loads of wash to do plus I will be bringing his laundry home so that will give me about 2 more.  Sometimes wash day becomes more like a wash week.

Another day that nothing will really get done at home.  (Sigh)

Managed to unpack one more box out of the mound in the kitchen - go me!!

Personally I need to have a day (or two) (oh, let’s NOT get greedy) where I can just be at home so that I can get some of these chores taken care of.  I also need to call a pulmunologist (lung doc) so that I can get rid of this cough (nagging annoying hack) and also be able to really breathe.

Well, that about sums it up for now.  Keep sane and keep smiling - now to throw the wash into the dryer…....

Spider

Yes, you can tell it is spring out here.
Here is what we call one of our mutant spiders.  Since we live within sight distance of a nuclear plant any animal that looks different than normal to us is deemed a mutant.  Since we aren’t scientists it could actually be just a unique species of spider.  If anyone knows please let us know.

Thirty-four!!

Only 34 more people have to read this blog and I will have finally hit the 2500 mark.

I realize that I could’ve set my counter to begin with any number that I wanted to, but in reality I wanted to see exactly how many people would actually read this blog.  Perhaps I will try to locate the one who becomes #2500 and award them some sort of prize…...... hmmmmmm who knows…......

Weather is once again glorious so here is to hoping that you got outside to at least enjoy it in some fashion.

Another day of…....

Feeling like crap!!
Truth be told I was not feeling very well for my birthday weekend.  It started out with a bout of colitis on Friday, that lingered till Saturday. Breathing difficulties began on Friday when we went to Red Lobster and had to walk through the smoking area to get to the back non-smoking section, as the front non-smoking was totally full.
(I will be glad when Michigan follows suit with other large states that have banned smoking in restaurants.)

On Saturday night we attended the first dinner of my dad’s car club and he decided to keep coughing, nope didn’t cover his mouth, and myself and my dinner were the recipients.
Sunday capped it all off when we went out to Buffalo Wild Wings and once again the smoke from the lone smoker at the bar drifted over toward our table in non-smoking and all of us were complaining of the smoke and the lack of heat.

Did we enjoy ourselves while we out?  Yes we did!!

Am I healthy now and breathing easier??  Hell no!!

Would I have loved to have been outside enjoying the weather right now? You bet’cha!!

Hope all of you are doing far better than my miserable self!!

It’s my birthday

Today is my birthday!!
Here is a picture of one of the many cupcakes that my darling youngest daughter made for me; at 5:30 a.m. after working a 12 hr overnight shift.  Thank you sweetie!!

Remember that box??  The one that was driving me nuts earlier this week??  Here is a picture of what was inside:

They are a present from Momma & Jay!!  Been waiting quite a few years to watch “Harold & Maude” (first watched at Momma’s house) and also “Being There” as Peter Sellers was hysterical in it.  The 9/11 documentary will join the rest of the 9/11 collection. (And before you think me morbid - please remember that at the time that happened I was living on Long Island approximately 65 miles away from there. Yes, we could smell the smells from it at our house.  That day will forever live on in my memories)
Thanks to the brave few who called and sang Happy Birthday on the phone.  Be assured that those phone calls were NOT recorded.

A Week Full of Surprises

Yes, it has been a week full of surprises.
Last Saturday I received an email telling of the forthcoming arrival of a box holding an early birthday present.

On Wednesday sweet hubby called Momma to let her know that it had arrived and to see if I could open it
The answer was, “no”.  So I have been staring at it and shaking it (gently) as it silently torments me.  On Sunday
I will be able to open it.  FINALLY!!!

On Thursday we came home from being with my dad all day and helping him do his taxes.  Lo and behold I saw the oldest’s car in the driveway.
First thought was, “who is in our driveway?”  Second thought was, “Why is she home?”
With the kid about to graduate college you worry when they show up unexpectedly.  As I started to fret and sputter in the van, sweet hubby
told me that she had come home for my birthday weekend; a plan that I thought had been squashed due to lack of funds.

Right now I am pretty content with my family all home.

Update on life

Right now I am sitting here with my shins - or is it calves (?) screaming in pain and wondering if it is all worth it.
My friend and I have decided that we each need to lose some weight - both of us coincidentally need to lose the same amount.
We have decided to walk.
So, yesterday I drove to her house and we walked in her neighborhood.  We walked a mile. We walked it at a brisker pace than I am used to moving.  By nightfall I was hurting.
Today she wanted to walk again.  She drove to my house. We walked my dead end street from one end to the other and back again.
I am beat.
I want a shower, followed by a long soak in a hot tub….....problem - I am longer than our tub.
My lower legs want some relief.

For rainy days we have the treadmill that I snagged at a garage sale this weekend for $50.  She said she will bring over her weights, my body winced in pain.

It is so dang easy to put this stupid weight on - why oh why is it so much work to take it off??

Ok, got to trudge down some stairs to do the laundry.  Ow, ow, ow…..........
